My baptism was this past Sunday, July 13th. Lots of my family came up from Dayton just for the day which meant that they spent at least 8 hours in the car to make the trip for my special day. My Gammy and Poppy came and my Aunt Lori and Shawn and even my Great Grandma came! My Aunt Kristi and Uncle Dustin came too, from Columbus, and they were an extra important part of the day because they are my Godparents... and of course my cousin Addison came too! Most of my daddy's family in Cleveland came too. And it just so happened to work out that my Nana moved back to Cleveland just in time and she was able to come too!!! My daddy's friends Sonny and Bruce and Lindsey came too. It meant so much to me and so so so much to mommy and daddy that all of the people who are most important to them were there!!!
Mommy and daddy are a little unique given the fact that mommy is Catholic and daddy is Jewish so mommy and daddy are going to teach me lots about the Catholic religion and lots about the Jewish religion so I learn about both. That is a special thing I get in my life and I am so excited to learn about both mommy and daddy's religions! But what's most important to mommy and daddy is to teach me to have FAITH and to believe in the POWER OF PRAYER. There have been so many times in mommy and daddy's lives that have been difficult or trying for one reason or another and they had faith that things would be okay and prayed alot and both of those things helped them get through those times. For example, mommy and daddy said lots of prayers that they would be blessed with a child and now they have ME!!! :) Then when mommy and daddy found out that they were pregnant they said lots of prayers that I would be healthy! Mommy tells me sometimes she thinks that if she didn't believe in the power of prayer and didn't have faith in God that she doesn't know how she would have gotten through certain things. One of the hardest years of her life was this past year when her sister, my aunt Kristi (my Godmother), was diagnosed with and battled the horrible disease of breast cancer. Mommy says that one of her most favorite prayers and one she says every day is asking God to watch over and protect all of her loved one's and to keep them safe and healthy. But mommy also told me it's important to not only pray to ask God for things but to pray to thank him for all of the blessings in our lives too!
So to make a long story short....well I guess this story is already kinda long... but most importantly mommy and daddy just want me to know that as I grow up and experience difficult times or have difficult decisions to make that I do not have to go through these things alone....that I can pray to God and ask for his help, strength, and guidance. After my baptism was over, we had a cookout and it was a beautiful day to sit outside, visit with family, and eat!!! :)
